mRuby2 red fluorescent protein
monomeric red fluorescent protein derived from mRuby, with improved photophysical properties
Usage and Biology
Introduction
Ever since fluorescent proteins were introduced into biology research, it's widely used in cell imaging and biosensors. mRuby2 is a red fluorescent protein. It has a better brightness and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) dynamic range. And mRuby2 functions well in a variety of fusions. In our project, mRuby2 is linked to carboxyl-terminal of Piezo1 and Piezo1.1, to obtain whether the plasmids containing Piezo1/Piezo1.1 are transfected into our HEK293 cells successfully.
Experiment and result
Cell imaging
We cotransfected Piezo1.1 and GCaMP6m into HEK293 cells. Cell imaging results are shown below. A shear force was applied to the cells by sucking out the culture medium.
